Kuskuz: 30-Mins Sound Art Show

Kuskuz is a one-night noise performance with 14 artists (guitars, percussion, synth) playing at once for 30 minutes. In Bisaya, kuskus means scrub or grind. It also feels like strumming. This is an ode to Cebuano and Filipino daily survival, the grinding we do for work, for love, for life.

About the event

*EARPLUGS RECOMMENDED*

Kuskuz is a one-evening sound art performance where 14 artists perform at the same time. Each performer brings their own guitar, amp, and effects. The output is loud, messy, human. Noise as an ode to grinding. Strumming as survival.

This is not a gig.
Not a jam.
Not a clean showcase.

It is a room where we let the pressure speak.

Kuskuz means scrub or grind. Everyday friction. Work that does not stop because you are tired. It also feels like the act of strumming. The repetitive motion that continues even when the song is not there.

Kuskuz frames noise as a voice. The kind of voice that does not get heard in normal life, especially when you are expected to be functional, respectful, and grateful. The performance allows distortion, feedback, drone, and raw volume to exist as expression. No translation required.
