Boy with Mango is a reference to a painting called "Boy with Apple" from Wes Anderson's film, "The Grand Budapest Hotel". It is a modern adaptation of the painting in the Cebuano context, the boy being in the image of a Sto. Nino, holding a piece of mango instead of an apple. It explores the parallel themes between the two paintings, of icons and images being worshiped or being perceived that is of higher value or significance.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Guibs is a contemporary artist focusing on the medium of art toys and integrating Filipino street culture with it. His main line of characters is called "Kantoy", an amalgamation of the woreds "Kanto" and "toy". It explores the different subjects that define Pinoy street culture such as food, games, and just the beauty behind the mundane.
BIDDING POLICY

If you are outside Cebu City, shipping costs will be added to the winning bid.
